Two stars collided
bleached gold blue
burst into black sky.
Remember the dust?
The glittering specks
floating, falling, curving their way toward the earth
deep into our eyes, our skin, our souls?
Remember the burning?
That delightful, subtle burning?
Remember us,
dancing under these stars,
watching, arms wide, for them to take that final, fatal step
into one another
towards us,
towards eternity?
Two stars collided
and we hid.
in the darkness
under covers
our bodies next to each other
not touching
specks of dust shooting in that blank expanse
until we no longer exist
apart.

Two wandering stars collide and we look up wondering if we were them in past lives. So that now we have specks of each other woven into our skin like the dust that we are.
I can see it now: the dust glittering gold, dancing, falling slowly, us unaware that with each breath we breathe a little more of those stars.
We began to do more than just breath after a while. Walking in rain, we asked to live the sky, minds and eyes wide open seeing the dust, our dust, still falling stars never fully dark. Moons shine through. Night comes easy for us in the sky, between fire and life - you warm in gray light, my laughter in raindrops.
When the sun comes out we will dry up. Become brittle and old. Longing for the days of rain, the days where we knew each other, where our dreams came out in tact despite the broken wreckage of ourselves.
